The United States Mahayana Zengong Academic Society (USMZAS) is a non-profit corporation of California and is not organized for the private gain of any person. The property of this corporation is irrevocably dedicated to charitable purposes. USMZAS has been granted the non-profit exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service since January 1992. The specific purpose of this corporation is to promote, research, and practice traditional Mahayana Zen teachings and training which include philosophy, exercises and meditation. This teaching and practice allows one to improve their physical well-being and develops the latent potential of mankind both mentally and spiritually. Furthermore, the teaching emphasizes the cultivation of our altruistic attitude so that we actively involve in helping others and promoting peace and harmony in our society and our world. Our members actively participate in various charitable activities and organizations, cultural exchanges and dialogues, visits to hospital and convalescent homes.
